Welcome to Icelandic Museum Rock & Roll

About the Museum

Many people know Icelandic artists such as the Sucarcubes, Björk, Sigur Rós and Of Monsters and Men. What’s their story? What’s their background? And how did these bands become so successful coming from the tiny population of Iceland? At the Icelandic Museum of Rock ‘n’ Roll you can walk through the history of Icelandic pop and rock music throughout the years. Guests can dive deeper into the history of each artist and listen to their music with the help of the Rock ‘n’ Roll app on the iPad we lend you during your visit. Among memorabilia portrayed in the museum is Gunnar Jökull's drumkit he used on the album ...Lifun with Trúbrot, LED-light outfit of Paul Oscar, several Sugarcubes items and much more!  And don’t forget to check out our Sound Lab to try out some instruments and feel like a real rocker!

The Icelandic Music Hall of Fame

In the museum you will find the Icelandic Music Hall of Fame. Those portrayed are the honorary awards winners of the Icelandic Music Awards. Read all about the winners and enjoy their music at the museum.

The Icelandic Rock ‘n’ Roll Shop and Café
In our shop we sell memorabilias for you to take home. Get rockin’ in our Icelandic Museum of Rock T-shirts or check out the newest releases by Björk, Sigur Rós and many more. If you want to go the extra mile and become an expert on Icelandic music we also sell books and documentaries on Icelandic music and artists. In the museum you can sit down, listen to music and have a cup of coffee… or tea.. or hot chocolate, whichever sounds good to you. Our coffee comes from Kaffitár a local roasterie, specializing in importing, roasting and serving the finest Arabica coffee beans.
